Looking to upgrade

So, I'm thinking I may want to upgrade my video card & possibly MB + processor.  I currently have:
GPU - Nvidia Geforce GTX 660 Ti 2GB
MB - Asus P8h77-M
Processor - Intel Core I5 3330

I'm looking at something that will be better at graphics for gaming, but will also allow me better performance in video editing & Affect Effects.

Keep the prices reasonable, as I am not Sarge and have 3 jobs.  LOL

Thanks

don't the 970's have a 3.5 gb and a 512MB Ram issue? where if all the RAM is utilized you get REALLY shitty frame rates?

Also, can you SLI?

How big is your Power supply? Who is that manufacturer of it?

wait...i thought mav was saying NO AMD....

Regardless, he's looking at a full rebuild. He can keep his HDD's but if he wants to update his proc he more than likely needs to buy new RAM. (especially since he's running (10GB? I think House said one of his sticks went bad) also he is running an ultra Power supply. So IMO he would need a good PS as well.

So here's my list if he's going to upgrade.

New PS
New 16 GB of Ram (I'm a firm believer in you can never have enough RAM especially since he wants to be doing alot of video editing and what not)
NEW MB
IMO if he got a new MB that supported his proc he could probably get away with that i5 that he is using... otherwise new PROC.
And to get away cheap on the video card realm, try to EBAY another 660 and keep that shit in SLI. the 660's that I saw on ebay were going for under $100

RAM's a bit tricky and i really don't want to research that boards memory support. Whatever board you go with just make sure you buy a compatible RAM config for it.

Might as well throw a good heatsink on there for good measure.

EBAY listings for 660's

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i ... kw=660+ti&_sop=1

130 for the board 70 for the PS 190 or so for the RAM 30 for the HS and around a $100 for the video card. IDK where you get SLI bridges probably like $5 on ebay tho... $500-550 total is what you are looking at.

I'd like to see what mav says about this before greenlighting it. This should at least limp you along for the next 1-2 years imo.

Anything that goes beyond limping and you are looking at $800-1000 easy. Especially if you are gonna want next gen graphics then you are going to need a 1440p Monitor.

FUCK, i want a 1440p monitor....

Yes, I want a fucking cookie for my input =P lol.

Well, I went and ordered a new video card to start with, hoping this solves the driver crash issues. I may look at upgrading the board around black Friday. I ended up getting EVGA Nvidia GTX 960 card. Seeing that I had a 660 already, this brought up to date with the series.
